My Instagram Weekend

It was a glorious sunny weekend here in NYC…finally! And I spent as much time as possible out in the warm sunshine. My Instagram Weekend soaked up all the fun photos for you as usual. The sunbathing in Sheep’s Meadow was the popular vote on Saturday, it felt the entire City had escaped to Central Park. But fortunately I love people, the more the merrier!

The perfect outfit for spring! A bright but warm sweater for chilly mornings paired with casual ripped denim shorts, a fun tank with button down back and lace pocket, and gold studded flat sandals! Don’t forget your round Gaga shades.
Magnolia Bakery makes the day a little cozier and just like home.

Finally saw The Avengers in 3D. It was great…although
I wanted more Thor (Chris Hemsworth)…and more romance.

Topped the weekend off by reading out on my apartment terrace while the last bit of weekend sunshine stuck around. Of course in a bathing suit at all times to try and start soaking in a little color. Not orange mind you, but I’d like to not resemble a vampire for a change.

Tampered with mixing prints this weekend too.
How do you like the plaid with the stripe maxi dress?

Menswear Monday

“American classics and Bohemian ideals” is where cool downtown brand Benson derives. Benson is for the citizen of the world, designed loosely on a transcontinental lifestyle from Europe to Manhattan. Boy oh boy do I love that lifestyle! For this Menswear Monday discover Benson…and note: they have something for us ladies too!

Benson, is for the clever world wanderer
who loves possessions but not masses of them.

Benson, confident in their free spirit and laid back mentality.
And for this particular Menswear Monday,
this line has something for us ladies as well.

So shop over at Benson and get ready
for a wanderlust summer.

Menswear Monday

A little something for the gents on this fine Monday morning…or maybe every Monday from now on. As I mentioned last week, I have officially switched over to menswear in the fashion world and I’m loving it. Such great tailoring and everything full of detail. Not to mention the sexy men…bonus. Here are some things catching my eye for the stylish gentleman. What do you think of Menswear Monday mes cheris?

A little pizazz to your button up for the work day. This one is found at Bergdorf’s by Lanvin.

I believe a good man is complete with a great bag like this weekend duffle from Libero Ferrero and great shoes like these Hawkings McGill leather chambray oxfords. Great news is you can find the shoes at Urban Outfitters!

And of course in this rainy season with a fortunate break on Sunday one must be prepared at all times to pop up the umbrella and stay dry. Of course to stay dry and still maintain style is the truly accomplished gentleman so for this Menswear Monday do consider a great yet practical umbrella like this Barbour umbrella.

Which item will you go for this week?

Seersucker & Sombrero Party | Kentucky Derby Cinco de Mayo Weekend

One of my coworkers came up with a brilliant idea yesterday that made for a promising weekend. A Seersucker & Sombrero Party! This Saturday the Kentucky Derby is actually taking place on Cinco de Mayo! The festivities will be to the max with this culture clashing opportunity, so be sure to embrace it!

The Kentucky Derby, long standing prep tradition that it is, will be the focus of my many bets, seersucker suits, and very large hats this weekend. I for one quite enjoy a man in a seersucker suit…blame it on my Southern upbringing but it just says Southern Gentleman. I also enjoy any socially acceptable opportunity to wear the most outrageous hat your heart desires…dream come true.

Cinco de Mayo AKA May 5th is Mexico’s Independence Day. Now I’m not Mexican, do not speak Spanish, and have never even been south of the border but I will say Cinco de Mayo provides one big party. I do love tequila and Corona although never together, and I may just have to add a few of those interspersed between my Kentucky Derby Mint Juleps this Saturday to properly salute both holidays.

Menswear Inspiration

I’ve been knee deep in menswear this week and will be from now on. I must say I was surprised the first time I worked in menswear as to how much I loved it. It’s all in the details, and everything is so impeccably crafted and elegantly classic, I cannot get enough. Here are some men’s fashion gems for your fancy.

Coachella Fashion | Inspiration for the Summer

Skip the shower and put on your best Above-it-all Hippie face (or as the French would say Bo Bo)…Coachella just swept through the dry warm weather of the West, leaving behind a stream of Hippie fashionspiration for all to carry into the summer months. Although all of these looks border on costumey for my personal taste, it is always fun to gather style inspiration from everywhere. So get some inspiration for the Summer from the Coachella Fashion of last month.

Thank you Refinery 29 for catching the snap worthy Coachella Fashion for us all.

This look was my favorite. Bold mixed patterns, cropped top, high waisted shorts, and a turban on top!

What will you wear this Summer from the Coachella Fashion vault?

Next Chapter

It has been quite a whirlwind year. The last 13 months of freelancing has had it’s major ups and it’s challenging downs but at the end of it I have loved all I’ve learned and the experiences I have come out on the other side with. I’m excited to say I start today, the next chapter in my life, I’ve decided to move to a permanent position for a men’s fashion tradeshow. It’ll be a new adventure to embark upon but I am excited to make the step and I can’t wait to report back to you all the fun stories.

On a side note. I went for a beautiful run yesterday among other productive errands to enjoy my last day off. I couldn’t help but stop and pick a dandelion to make a wish…it’s almost summer! And my lavender nails are compliments of Essie’s St. Lucia Lilac. Hope you like!

Barefoot Sandals and a Gypsy Spirit

After playing frisbee barefoot in Central Park this past gorgeous New York City weekend, my inkling for some foot jewelry became stronger. I can’t say I’m much of a gypsy spirit but I do think barefoot sandals have quickly rose to the top of my Must Have list. I saw the idea over a decade ago in a wedding magazine for a barefoot beach wedding and the idea has always stuck with me. I was reminded when the recent Free People catalogue arrived at my apartment.

The Free People barefoot sandals are a bit too costumey for my taste. I don’t want to look like a Holly Hobby Hippie. However I found myself turning to Etsy to solve this gypsy inspired jewelry dilemma and oh the options it provided…

There were barefoot sandals on the more jewelry side of the spectrum. These personally keep more of that gypsy spirit to me, and I do like them, however I wonder if they would be as comfortable as the crocheted option which feels more like a hippie.

I do believe these cream ones are my favorite, however I can’t help but pine over these elaborate black ones. This Etsy shop has caught my eye before but this seems a more useful option from their selection. At $53 dollars it is also on the more expensive side than the other $15-20 options, but they are fun to look at… so intricately woven.

So do your feet have the gypsy spirit
that mine long for this summer?

Will you be buying some barefoot sandals?

One More Time with Feeling | Broadway Inspired Fashion

I’ve been whistling the tunes of my favorite Broadway songs in my apartment the last few days and it got me thinking about the fashionspiration you could pull straight out of the bright lights of Broadway. So one more time with feeling here is some great Broadway inspired fashion you can pull into your modern everyday style.

Newsies and A Chorus Line Inspiration

The vested tuxedo feel of menswear is used directly in Newsies, as well as the glitter version in A Chorus Line. I personally love rocking a menswear look in my wardrobe. It feels empowering and sassy all at the same time.

1950’s

1950s Broadway Inspiration

The full skirts of the 1950’s probably make for a Broadway costume designer favorite since they are dramatic and still free for the dancers’ choreography. I added a fedora which of course would have been what the men wore but hey how cute is a fedora with a sundress and wedges? Broadway inspired fashion is just that, inspired, so you don’t have to be literal like a costume.

Windy Busy Season

It has been a windy couple of days to say the least. The wind sounds about as hectic as my life is right now, so I drop by today with an inspiring photo that is pleasant amidst the chaos.

How is your life lately mes cheris?
