Coachella Fashion | Inspiration for the Summer

Skip the shower and put on your best Above-it-all Hippie face (or as the French would say Bo Bo)…Coachella just swept through the dry warm weather of the West, leaving behind a stream of Hippie fashionspiration for all to carry into the summer months. Although all of these looks border on costumey for my personal taste, it is always fun to gather style inspiration from everywhere. So get some inspiration for the Summer from the Coachella Fashion of last month.

Thank you Refinery 29 for catching the snap worthy Coachella Fashion for us all.

This look was my favorite. Bold mixed patterns, cropped top, high waisted shorts, and a turban on top!

What will you wear this Summer from the Coachella Fashion vault?

Must Have | NYC Moroccan Terrace

It if finally terrace season again and despite the horrible weather of the past few days, NYC will soon be in a constant warm sunny state…and I must begin to prepare my terrace for the season. At the end of the day, our NYC apartment terrace is pretty cute already, but it still feels thrown together for me, and I’d like to create an oasis to escape to. A Moroccan Oasis to be exact. So I have begun to pool my inspiration on Pinterest of course for my Must Have Moroccan Terrace!

My must have dream Moroccan terrace first will need a bunch of floor lanterns to congregate in a corner. They will their candles lit for ambience and their multi colored glass will give great warmth and decor.

After that I will finally need to get a nice Moroccan tile table set, complete with the 4 matching chairs and all. The table we have now is a left over from the previous owner and matches nothing…it needs to upgrade.

And for a splash of color, rich Moroccan fabric panels. This can cover the unsightly wall on our terrace that I have no clue what to do with. We have one great brick wall and then the NYC Skyscrapers skyline of course but this random silver wall I feel needs some love.

What else should I include in my
Must Have Moroccan Terrace plans?

Barefoot Sandals and a Gypsy Spirit

After playing frisbee barefoot in Central Park this past gorgeous New York City weekend, my inkling for some foot jewelry became stronger. I can’t say I’m much of a gypsy spirit but I do think barefoot sandals have quickly rose to the top of my Must Have list. I saw the idea over a decade ago in a wedding magazine for a barefoot beach wedding and the idea has always stuck with me. I was reminded when the recent Free People catalogue arrived at my apartment.

The Free People barefoot sandals are a bit too costumey for my taste. I don’t want to look like a Holly Hobby Hippie. However I found myself turning to Etsy to solve this gypsy inspired jewelry dilemma and oh the options it provided…

There were barefoot sandals on the more jewelry side of the spectrum. These personally keep more of that gypsy spirit to me, and I do like them, however I wonder if they would be as comfortable as the crocheted option which feels more like a hippie.

I do believe these cream ones are my favorite, however I can’t help but pine over these elaborate black ones. This Etsy shop has caught my eye before but this seems a more useful option from their selection. At $53 dollars it is also on the more expensive side than the other $15-20 options, but they are fun to look at… so intricately woven.

So do your feet have the gypsy spirit
that mine long for this summer?

Will you be buying some barefoot sandals?

Fashionspiration Friday | Rooftop Season

It’s that time of year again, the flowers are blooming, the sun is kissing faces, and the rooftops are open again with awesome Manhattanites lounging with artistic cocktails in hand! The Spring and Summer in New York City are my absolute favorite and it’s what keeps me going through the Winter. Here’s a fun Spring outfit for the office to beat out the fluorescent lighting.

Neon is hot hot hot for Spring/Summer and this neon sequined tank from Urban Outfitters reminds me of a highlighter…but one I really like making notes with! To top it off with this bold cobalt blue pleated Banana Republic skirt, I’m in girly heaven. With some gold chains and accessories I am ready to go. And don’t forget a rugged denim jacket for when the office is chilly. This ultra faded Levi’s red tab jacket is cropped, ripped, and fabulous.

And don’t forget the most important part… shoes! Look how adorable my pink suede Charlotte Ronson shoes are?! I love them, they are the perfect amount of girly and put an extra skip in my step.

I had the priveledge this week of working in the iconic 4 Times Square Conde Nast Building where fashion legends have graced the halls. I am at Glamour Magazine and the team here is amazing, I love coming in to work. Here is a peak at my view of Times Square all day. Also since the weather has been amazing, I have had lunch in Bryant Park everyday this week! Sitting by the fountain, overlooking the great lawn, and the architectural gem that is the New York Public Library…it just does not get old. Here is a pic for you of my little piece of heaven.

Guest Blogger | Beach Fashion Calling: Fringe Swimwear

Daylight Savings Time is right around the corner and with the weather we have in New York you would think it’s May already! Well it may be only March, but I will welcome the warm weather with open arms. You know what that means don’t you? Beach fashion is calling! There are so many swimwear styles to choose from but fringe swimwear is demanding a fabulous voice this season and Guest Blogger Susan Bodack of  InStyleSwimwear.com is here to tell you how to look fabulous on the sand this summer season!

Swimwear Trend Report: Fashionable Fringe Benefits

Every season has its #1 trend and for Summer 2012, the fringe swimwear trend is definitely it!  Many admire it for its hip boho-chic vibe while others simply love it for its unique and ultra-trendy flair.  Regardless, the trend is definitely taking the industry by storm!  Whether you’re looking for a new bikini, one-piece or even a new cover-up, fringe is a MUST this season.

For all the bikini lovers out there, there are plenty of fringe swimwear styles to choose from.  Bandeau tops with fringe detail along the bustline are perfect for women of all different bust sizes, but they look particularly amazing on girls with smaller busts.  The embellishment helps enhance your bustline, making you appear fuller up top.  But for those who need some extra support, try fringe swimwear tops like halters.  These tops feature chic fringe detail that hangs like a V, which elongates your torso, making it a perfect style for petite girls.  Check out new two-piece styles from L Space Swimwear—the master of the trend!
In addition to bikinis, the fringe swimwear trend is showcased in one-piece styles as well.  Many one-pieces and monokinis feature deep plunging necklines, so you’ll feel cool, covered and still sexy as can be!  Look for monokinis from L Space Swimwear and classic one-pieces from Tori Praver, both with fringe detail along the neckline.  Très chic!
Finally, if you love the fringe swimwear trend but are looking for a new cover-up, you’ll love the new fringe-embellished cover-up styles!  Whether you’re into tunics, dresses or fashion-forward ponchos, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your fix.
Which fringe swimwear style
will you be rockin’ this season?

Hanging on to Summer!

Supposedly after Labor Day, Summer is over and you say goodbye to the days of bbq’s, long strolls, and beach trips. Well I subscribe to the school of “hang on to Summer as long as possible” and as long as the weather stays in tact that is exactly what I plan on doing.

So go picnic outside, soak up the warm rays and sport your most favorite sunnies!

How will you enjoy Summer while its here mes cheris?

Fashionspiration: When Summer Inspiration Runs Dry

It is true with any season, you get near the end and you feel like you have nothing to wear. You have tried every concoction possible in your wardrobe to be stylish but inevitably you hit that point when summer inspiration runs dry. What do you do?
Mix and Match some bold accessories to brighten up an outfit you already know is a home run.

Here I’ve added my Dolce & Gabbana silk scarf and bright red wedges to my high waisted navy shorts and ruffle top cream tank. Oh yeah and I added some dress socks for a little trendy pop.

I popped in some subtle gold jewelry to pull the gold piping from the shoes up into my outfit but kept the jewelry simple since my shoes and head scarf are enough of a statement. It is always about balance mes cheris!

save your summer wardrobe?

Magazine Cover Release Party for PCOS Awareness

As Summer rolls on, the vacations seem to be hitting a climax. I am still not accustomed to so many friends constantly jet setting off to somewhere fabulous all at one time. But true to form no matter the time of year (or how many people stay in town) New York City always has things to do and people to see!
I was recently invited to a Magazine Cover Release Party for 24 Blogazine on the hip Lower East Side. There were great cocktails and great fashion to be had, and all in the name of PCOS Awareness (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

The event was held at White Rabbit on East Houston St.
It was the perfect place to learn and promote PCOS awareness,
the most common hormonal disorder in the US.

There were many beautiful ladies present like Yumnah Najah, who were selling goods to raise funds for the cause. Yumnah, in her show stopping maxi dress, hand paints beautiful statement earrings which you can find here. There really are works of art, be sure to stop by and say hello!

For the happy hour magazine cover release party I decided to go with an understated summer outfit. Nicole Miller silk tank, Hugo Boss belt, and Camaieu white skinny jeans. I love white pants….a LOT, and I look for any excuse to wear them!

What is your magazine cover release party look?

NYC Digs: Paul Labrecque Salon

It is about this time every season, the end of the season, where I begin yearning for a refreshing change in my beauty routine, to gear me up for the following months. I hit that point last week where every time I left the apartment, covered in sweat, I felt my hair needed a hairstylist’s magic touch to breathe new life into it. Well that dream came true at what I think is the most amazing salon in New York City, the Paul Labrecque Salon! Prepare yourself this NYC Digs post is filled with luxury on the Upper East Side….

I started the day off with a curly do, tousled by the NYC elements a la Carrie Bradshaw. I was eager to see my transformation as I gazed out at the sunny day on East 65th street.  Before and after lovers beware!! This one’s a doozy!

I met hair stylist Jerami back in the Winter, at the fabulous Onassis Clothing Gentleman’s Night Out event in SoHo…couldn’t get him off my mind since then…he is AMAZING!

And so Jerami got to work…as you see he had a lot to work with!
I sat coddling my coffee as mornings and I get along never, and chatting.

I felt like a beauty parlor lady in the 50s while my color set
and I sipped an espresso and read further in my book.

The whole team at Paul Labrecque works like a family, everyone chatting and smiling, checking in on each other and helping out where needed. Here I’m getting my nails done by Manana. I also went down later and chatted with their makeup artist Taymour. Paul Labrecque has a full service spa, as well as nail parlor, makeup specialists, and hair salon. It’s a dream getaway for a weekend morning.

Et VOILA before and after delivered! I was so excited when I saw my new reflection in the mirror, I’m a redhead now! I spent the day getting mistaken for Amy Adams, complimented left and right, and I couldn’t have been happier. Jerami did an amazing job, I couldn’t believe his talent. The whole staff at Paul Labrecque instantly feels like your family…the kind that send you away looking fabulous rather than frazzled…making you giddy for your next visit.

Be sure to get over to a Paul Lebrecque Salon asap for your own transformation. Jerami is at the Upper East Side salon, but there is a Midtown and Upper West Side location as well. And be sure to stop by the website to learn some hair tips & tricks as well as get some great products…or start following this blog for a fabulous surprise coming soon…hmm…

Giveaway Winner & What I Wore

The temperature has finally dropped a bit in New York. Nothing drastic but enough to ponder jeans at night…watch out!! With the exception of the relentless rain all Sunday (and I think for the next 48 hours), it has been pretty nice lately. What I wore last week shifted a bit by night, again nothing crazy, but to brave jeans meant a big change. Not to mention the giveaway ended Friday and somebody will be a giveaway winner today!

First things first, some style inspiration from what I wore by night recently.

After a slightly rainy day but clear night, I went for a walk past Lincoln Center with my roommate. With the weather a PERFECT 72 degrees a threw on my lace crop top with no fear of a chill and Levi Skinny Jeans and boots to compensate for the puddles. I love that this is a completely casual outfit in NYC…I am so meant to live here. Oh and yes that is a Borders bag in my hand because I’m a MASSIVE book nerd and since they’re going out of business it is imperative that I buy more, trust me that is good logic.

Alright, now for what you all want to see… the giveaway winner is:
